About the Opportunity

West Arnhem Regional Council is seeking an experienced Manager Business and Commercial Services to join its leadership team in Jabiru, Northern Territory.

Reporting directly to the Director Technical Services, you'll lead Council's Business and Commercial Services portfolio while working closely with the Executive Leadership Team to support informed decision-making and strengthen Council's commercial performance.

People leadership is a significant part of this role.

You'll support and develop a multidisciplinary team, creating an environment where people feel empowered to contribute, grow and deliver great outcomes for the organisation.

Alongside your leadership responsibilities, you'll provide commercial oversight across contracts, business services, funding opportunities and financial performance, helping Council continue building a sustainable future.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Lead, coach and support a multidisciplinary team
  • Strengthen commercial performance across Council's business portfolio
  • Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and service delivery
  • Support business development initiatives and new funding opportunities
  • Provide commercial and financial insights that inform Executive decision-making
  • Build productive relationships with government agencies, contractors, Traditional Owners and community stakeholders
  • Promote sound governance, procurement and contract management practices
  • Contribute to Council's long-term commercial sustainability

To succeed in this role, you'll bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Management, Public Administration or a related discipline, OR significant leadership experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading commercial operations, business services, contracts or similarly complex portfolios
  • Strong financial management capability, including budgeting, reporting, business planning and data analysis skills
  • Experience leading, coaching and developing multidisciplinary teams
  • Well-developed stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
  • Strong understanding and appreciation of Indigenous culture
  • A current C Class Australian Driver’s Licence

Experience in local government or remote communities will be highly regarded; however, we're equally interested in leaders who bring transferable commercial expertise together with a collaborative leadership style and a genuine willingness to learn.

You'll receive a competitive salary commencing from $137,917 PLUS  12% Super,  together with:

  • Relocation Assistance for the right candidate
  • Annual Salary Progression in accordance with the Enterprise Agreement
  • Employer-Provided, Partially Furnished Accommodation
  • Subsidised Rent capped at $105 per week
  • Annual Jabiru Locality Allowance of $1,103.39 (single) & $1,930.84 (with dependants)
  • Salary Packaging options to help maximise your take-home pay
  • Phone Allowance of $39.17 per fortnight
